Hi Ed,
Yes you can purchase the LIF5800/2 and mount it to the existing LIF5000 base plate as they are the same 🙂 You could first try cleaning your smoke alarm by vacuuming the holes around the smoke alarm to clear any dust particles.

Hello there, I currently have a LIF5000-1 and it started beeping and the red LED indicator stays on, I am guessing there is some problem. Could I purchase a LIF5800/2 and mount it to the baseplate of the current LIF5000-1 that I have ?

The LIF1215 is a very old model which definitely requires replacing immediately. Australian Standards recommend replacing smoke alarms every 10 years. You can replace the LIF1215 with our latest LIF5800/2 or LIF5800RL/2 which meet the latest Australian Smoke Alarm Standards AS3786:2014.

Hi Keith,
The LIF4800RL has an inbuilt rechargeable battery which cannot be removed or replaced. The unit must be replaced completely. The LIF4800RL has been superseded by the LIF5800RL/2 which complies to the latest Australian Standards. Unfortunately the LIF5800RL/2 does not fit the same base plate as the LIF4800RL, so you will need a qualified electrician to change the smoke alarms over for you.
You can purchase our LIF5800RL/2 from Electrical Wholesalers or online at Home Safety Store.

Good evening. I have a Lifesaver 4800RL. Its dated 13th February 2009. It kept beeping. I removed it but cant see a battery to replace. As its 11 years old what do I do to replace it?

Hi Joseph,
The LIFESAVER 1215 model is over 20 years old. We highly recommend you upgrade your smoke alarm to the latest Australian Standard Lifesaver 5800/2 or 5800RL/2 smoke alarms as it is necessary to change over your smoke alarm every 10 years.

I have the same issue and mine is the Make and Model…….1215. Really is very annoying NOISE and I can’t seem to find a battery compartment in my smoke detector LIFESAVER 1215…….

Hi Colin,
Apologies for the delayed response. You will have to replace the base plate as well as the new LIFESAVER 5 series models do not fit the same base plate as the LIF4800RL.
