Smoke Alarms Built for Queensland Homes

Whether you live in Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane or the Gold Coast, PSA Lifesaver Smoke Alarms are specifically engineered for Queensland homes. No matter the conditions, we’ve got you covered with technology that has superior detection and is made to last.

The 2027 Smoke Alarm Legislation

In Queensland, new smoke alarm laws mandate that by 1 January 2027, all dwellings must have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms installed. By law, every Queensland home must have smoke alarms installed that meet these three requirements:

How Many Smoke Alarms Do I Need?

Every home is different, but here’s a quick way to estimate:

  • Count each bedroom.
  • Count each connecting hallway.
  • Add at least one alarm per level.

Example: A two-storey, three-bedroom home with two hallways = minimum 5 alarms required

For exact requirements, ask your electrician or a licensed smoke alarm maintenance company.

No Chirps. No False Alarms. Just Protection that Works.

Sleep Soundly. Wake Safely. PSA Smoke Alarms – Always on Guard.
Queensland’s heat and humidity can cause havoc, causing standard smoke alarms to falsely trigger, waking up the entire household at night and leading to costly replacements.

That’s why PSA developed the Lifesaver range specifically for Queensland homes. We have spent the last 5 years testing under Queensland conditions to produce the most advanced Smoke Alarm available.

24/7 Local Technical Support

PSA stands behind every alarm we make. Our Australian-based technical support team is available 24/7 to help with installations, troubleshooting, or any questions on our Lifesaver range.

Don’t Just Take Our Word For It.

Read what Electricians and Maintenance Companies have to say:

At Detector Inspector, we provide a like-for-like brand in our replacement installations. So, if a client has a PSA, we replace it with another PSA. PSA products now rate as a 9/10, and they are so easy to install and troubleshoot.

We don’t want any headaches, and with PSA’s 10-year warranty, there’s peace of mind. I’d rate PSA’s customer service as 9.5/10.

PSA products are good, reasonably priced, and their investment in R&D has addressed the humidity issue. By far, PSA is the most personable and easy to work with as well.

We have been using PSA for over 20 years. The products are of good quality and value; we have never had any issues, and they are great people to work with.

As fire service installers, we strive to avoid any issues with our clients, which is why we choose PSA: high-quality products, a responsive sales team, and excellent customer service.

We manage the maintenance of around 100 apartments across multiple buildings. Over the years, we’ve experienced ongoing issues with false alarms caused by moisture and humidity, sometimes as frequently as weekly with products from various manufacturers. As we upgraded our apartments to meet the new standards, we chose to place our trust entirely in PSA, and it’s a decision we’re very happy with.

Since switching to the new-generation PSA smoke detectors, we haven’t encountered a single issue. I confidently rate PSA 10 out of 10 for delivering a high-quality product backed by exceptional service. I have no hesitation recommending PSA Products to others, they truly care about their product development and customer experience.

Varsity Apartments, located on the Sunshine Coast, cater to student accommodation. We have 124 apartments, 32 blocks, all of which have four bedrooms, so we run 640 smoke alarms to keep them all safe.

We’ve been using the Lifesaver 6800, which has been a massive improvement over the previous models. Due to dust and humidity, we used to experience multiple false alarms; however, we’ve had only three issues in total over the last 18 months.

I’m very happy to continue using the Lifesaver 6800 with the Advance Sensor; it’s an advancement in smoke alarms, along with the internal mesh that minimises dust and insects.

I’ve seen a significant improvement in the Lifesaver & DCW. We previously experienced issues, along with other brands, but we’re no longer facing any problems.

We offer PSA as our premium product because PSA continues to innovate, improve, and now features a double sensor that eliminates dust and insects as well.

PSA service and technical support are excellent. Personal service, extended warranties and timing for turnarounds is awesome. There’s a smooth process for replacing old with new.

I would rate PSA’s customer and tech support as 10/10.

Meriton Apartments are full of PSA 6800 smoke alarms. We have some 70,000 units – you can’t fault them.
