What Is the Difference Between Photoelectric and Ionisation Smoke Alarms?
Photoelectric alarms use a light-based sensor and respond faster to slow, smouldering fires. Ionisation alarms detect ionised particles, respond faster to flaming fires and are more prone to nuisance alarms from cooking and steam.
Do I Need Interconnected Smoke Alarms in My Home?
It depends on your state and build date. Properties built or significantly renovated after 1 May 2014 generally require interconnected alarms under the National Construction Code. Check the legislation guide for your state.
